“Many thanks to Magda for a great time guiding. She demonstrated excellent skill, experience and safety awareness in her instruction from beginning to end. She is also a kind, compassionate people person who is a pleasure to deal with.” – Guest on Kayak Day Trip
Magda is originally from California and started river kayaking in 1991. After she got a “bomb-proof” Eskimo roll, Magda began boating more difficult class IV and V river runs. During her college years while earning a degree in graphic design she also guided for several different rafting companies.
She has had swift water rescue training, CPR and first aid, as well as taken courses with Body, Boat and Blade to improve her sea kayaking. She discovered sea kayaking when she met her husband, Michael, who has lived on San Juan island since the mid 80s. Magda is currently teaching at a private school on the island and calls living on San Juan Island, “Paradise!”
“I am curious by nature and love to learn about wildlife as well as sharing my discoveries with others.” She also enjoys cycling, hiking, camping, downhill and backcountry skiing and rock climbing.
