In the early 90s, during the infancy of their Adventures program, REI reached out to Clark Casebolt, who had recently founded Outdoor Odysseys Sea Kayaking. Clark proudly partnered with REI Adventures for nearly 20 years, bringing paddlers face-to-face with the breathtaking beauty of the San Juan Islands. Together, Outdoor Odysseys and REI Adventurers embarked on thrilling paddling adventures through pristine waters, rugged shorelines, and under the starlit sky, sharing unforgettable meals that became a hallmark of Outdoor Odysseys.
Although our formal collaboration ended in 2011, the impact of those years remains deeply cherished in our story. Partnering with REI allowed us to connect with explorers from all over the world, sharing a passion for adventure and a profound respect for the natural world.
Since then, Outdoor Odysseys has continued to thrive, evolving and growing while staying true to the spirit of discovery that first brought us together. Today, we remain as passionate as ever about delivering meaningful sea kayaking experiences and helping adventurers create cherished memories on the water.
While we are saddened to see REI Adventures come to an end, we are proud of our 20-year history as part of its founding. This year marks my 21st season at Outdoor Odysseys, 13th as owner having taken over from Clark in 2012. We will continue to run trips in the spirit of adventure that we shared with REI Adventures.
REI trusted us to launch their adventures program, and we hope you will trust us to take care of you in the San Juans, whether you’re returning for more or embarking on your first exploration of these beautiful islands.
