Hailing from Omaha, Nebraska, Keith has felt a strong westward pull his entire life. Keith’s love affair with the American west coast (South and North) began during his National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) Semester in Baja, Mexico. Later he taught elementary school in the Dominican Republic, hitchhiked down the Chilean Patagonia coast, backpacked across the Andes and earned his BA in Liberal Arts from the Louisiana Scholar’s College in 2011. Keith has worked a variety of jobs all over the Americas while pursuing his passion for traveling and outdoor adventures. He has been a bartender (in Omaha, Denver, and Guatemala), a valet (in New Mexico) a Paralegal, an elementary school sports coach/teacher, a leader of teen adventure summer programs (in Peru, Panama, and Costa Rica) and an Outdoor Educator, backpack and canoe guide (in California).
The San Juan Islands hold a special place in Keith’s heart, as they are full of charismatic wildlife, spectacular vistas and wonderful people. Being able to paddle through the beautiful blue waters and share his passion for the area, its wildlife and history is what brings Keith back. He looks forward to seeing old friends and making new ones this upcoming summer in the beautiful San Juan Islands.
