"For the first time in my life, I experienced the power of women: strong, capable, kind, and supportive. We worked together to achieve a common goal... thanks to the rest of the group for completing the circle."
Patti Buckholz, WOW 3-Day Trip
Women Only Adventure Tours
Join us this summer for our “WOW” sea kayak trips in the sunny, scenic San Juan Islands of Washington State. Our tours accommodate complete novices as well as more experienced paddlers. We supply the boats and gear, instruction, tastefully prepared cuisine and personable, woman/naturalist guide(s).
We’ll paddle and explore among the 200 rocky
tree-lined islands that are tucked into the NW corner of Washington State. You’ll camp at scenic waterfront campsites, dine on exquisitely prepared cuisine and experience opportunities for seeing everything from Orca whales and bald eagles to harbor seals and river otter.
Our female guides always relish the opportunity to paddle with and share the sights, sounds and beauty of the San Juan archipelago with like minded women.
Never kayaked before? No worries. We use exceptionally stable, two person kayaks on all our tours. Concerned about your upper body strength? That’s one of the reasons we use double kayaks - you have another hand (or two!) to help propel the boat forward. So, grab a friend or come by yourself and meet new friends that enjoy fun, adventurous activities like you do.
K.E.L.P. (Kayak Education Leadership Program)

In an effort to maintain respectful and responsible use of the watersofthe San Juan Islands, we uphold the K.E.L.P. (Kayak Education Leadership Program) pledge. As such, Outdoor Odysseys strives to provide an educational and enjoyable paddling experience while adhering to the laws pertaining to the Southern Resident Killer Whales.
When in the presence of Orcas, we maintain a 100-yard distance, move out of their path, and group our kayaks near shore to allow our marine neighbors the "right-of-way".
Our guides, and our guests, pledge to do their part to minimize our disturbance to all marine wildlife within the San Juan Marine Stewardship Area.
For more information on K.E.L.P. and efforts to protect marine wildlife in the San Juan Islands, please visit the Whale Museum online and learn what you can do to be a responsible kayaker. |
‘Women on the Water’ Sea Kayaking/Camping Tour
On our 3 day all women’s trip we’ll kayak and camp on islands accessible only by boat.
Our 3-day camping trip is, ‘hands-down’ our most popular overnighter. To increase the enjoyment of your paddling, we’ve timed these particular departures so that you’ll be kayaking with the current for most of the trip.
We’ll have superb opportunities for seeing a variety of marine mammals. We also provide tastefully prepared meals - including lunches. These trips feature gourmet fare with some organic foods, bottled wines and good coffee. Just because were camping doesn't mean we have to totally rough it! (For more information, check out our 3 day co-ed “Eagles and Orcas” trip.)

Trip Features
- Our “WOW” trips are guided by women for women, which make for really spirited, fun sojourns.
- Our cuisine really is awesome…and any dietary concerns you may have are cheerfully accommodated.
- After a day of kayaking relax with a glass of bottled wine and some brie and crackers while your guides whip up a meal of smoked salmon pesto fettuccine, garlic bread, and organically grown salad greens, topped off with a Dutch oven apple/pear crisp.
- Our paddle routes place us in prime Orca whale territory- not to mention other marine mammals such as Dall’s porpoise, harbor seals and a myriad of others.
- Our trips are all-inclusive. Not all outfitters include tastefully prepared lunches, real maple syrup, bottled wines, organic produce and complimentary dry bags as an integral part of their tours.
- Your guides ultimately “make the trip.” You’ll be in very competent hands with our guides Nikken, Karrie and Laura.
