Unlike some outfitters our trips are all-inclusive (i.e. there are no “hidden” costs) with top quality kayak equipment and experienced naturalist/guides. When you participate on one of our overnight sea kayak tours all you need to bring is your personal clothing and sleeping bag and pad. We’ll supply you with everything else you’ll need including complimentary dry bags, lunches, bottled wine with dinner, and, of course, our legendary gourmet cuisine.

Speaking of outdoor cuisine – nobody does it better! No “beans and weens” here! We’ve developed a mouth watering menu that combines freshly prepared Northwest seasonal ingredients with the gentle art of Dutch Oven cookery which allows us to “wow” our guests with freshly baked apple/pear crisps and triple layer lasagna. (That's right, lasagna!)

If you want to maximize your chance of seeing whales while sea kayaking in the islands then you’ll want to launch from San Juan County Park. We are one of only three outfitters on San Juan Island that are allowed to launch from there on a daily basis.

Finally, unlike other kayak outfitters that also run trips in Alaska, Baja or Costa Rica, I have made a personal decision to keep our company relatively small and concentrate specifically on sea kayaking in the San Juan Islands. This individual focus and personal involvement results in quality trips with a high degree of customer satisfaction.
I first discovered the islands as a young kid growing up in Tacoma, WA. My parents would literally "shoe horn" my three brothers and I into a cramped 21’ wooden cabin cruiser named Casey and motor up to the San Juans. We would spend an idyllic week every summer cruising and camping in the islands, fishing for snapper (but usually getting bullheads!) and getting our hands stained from gorging on too many blackberries. Heady stuff for a ten year old!
Little did I know back then that thirty years later I would earn my livelihood sharing with others the beauty and wonder of these sun dappled islands.
The San Juan Islands are a beautiful place to learn to kayak. Beginners are welcome on all of our one to five day tours. Or, if you have some previous kayaking experience and are interested in increasing your skill base, our knowledgeable guides can help you gain a better understanding about how to read tides and currents as well as on-water navigation. Whatever your skill level we can accommodate you.
