Aya was raised in Bellevue, WA. and has spent her summers in the San Juans since the age of seven. Prior to working with us she spent several summers at a YMCA summer camp working with kids and leading kayak trips. She was a biology major in college with a concentration in environmental studies. This past year has seen her working and teaching in the Olympic and Hawaii Volcanoes National Parks as well as paddling in Baja and sailing in the Galapagos.
Her passions include birds, botany, natural history, books, cooking, travel and photography. Aya is looking forward to another summer guiding and sharing her knowledge of the natural history of the islands.
